4-day school week survey

Parents, Staff & Community Members,

The Board of Trustees asked us to put out an initial interest survey to see if there was support in looking into a four-day or modified school week schedule.  Before the Board and staff spend countless hours gathering information and exploring this issue we wanted to see if there was initial interest from the community to consider this option.  Please note, this is just a first ask and we are far from a decision about changing our calendar as the 2024-25 school calendar has already been submitted and approved.

To clarify a couple of terms, a four-day school week (FDSW) would likely mean school Monday-Thursday with Fridays off.  A modified schedule would be something different from our current schedule, but not a true FDSW.  It might mean students attend one or two Fridays a month, or something along those lines.  No one can answer what a “modified” schedule would be at this point.  The details of a new modified school schedule would only be developed after meeting with all stakeholder groups and communities to determine what they believe would best meet the needs of our students, their families, and our community.  This process would take place over the coming months and into next school year if the Board decides there is sufficient interest based on the results of this initial survey.

Covid Information

SCSD #1 has received $1,725,163.08 in ARP ESSER funds to be used to address the impacts of the coronavirus on our students and schools. It should be noted that 20%, or $345,032.62 is required to be set-aside to address students' social, emotional, and academic needs.

After receiving feedback from multiple stakeholder groups, our ARP ESSER Plan has been finalized.Thanks to those who took the time to complete the survey and share your thoughts regarding the use of these funds.
