Community Use of School Facilities

ALL SCSD #1 PROPERTIES ARE TOBACCO FREE, INCLUDING E-CIGARETTES AND SMOKELESS TOBACCO.  ALL LEASEES AND USERS AGREE TO MONITOR THEIR STAFF OR GUESTS AND ENFORCE THIS POLICY.

The public school facilities are provided by the people in order that the youth of the community may receive the benefits of a sound educational program.  Although this is the basic purpose for which the schools are built, the complete educational function is not achieved until the school facilities are made to serve the community.

Because the facilities are funded by taxpayer dollars, private for-profit businesses, corporations, organizations or persons will not be permitted to utilize the school facilities for generating revenue for their business.

The SCSD #1 Board of Trustees reserves the right to refuse approval or to cancel any and all permits issued for the use of school buildings or its facilities when it is deemed that such action is necessary for the best interests of the district.

Activities Generally Prohibited:

  1. Promulgating any theory or doctrine subversive to the laws of the United States or any political subdivision thereof by advocating governmental change by violence.

  2. Any activity that may violate community standards of good morals, manner, or taste or be injurious to the buildings, grounds, or equipment.

  3. Any purpose in conflict with school activities.

  4. Commercial activity except as fundraisers for charitable or service groups.

  5. Users may not conduct any activity which discriminates against any person on the basis of race, color, creed, or sex.
