The Cook Center for Human Connection

We have partnered with the "Cook Center for Human Connection" to provide support for parents and students. "The mission of the Cook Center for Human Connection is to bring together the best organizations, programs and products to prevent suicide, provide mental health support, and enhance human connections essential for people to thrive." This partnership brings a variety of services and supports to SCSD #1's families.

As a result of this partnership, SCSD #1 will be sponsoring four virtual Mental Health Nights with Parent Guidance.org, a Cook Center Partner, throughout the 2023-24 school year. The topics will be:

1."Helping Your Child Succeed- Three Parenting Styles" - Monday, Spetember 11th, 2023 @ 7:00 PM

2. "Bullying-Stop the Cycle"- Monday, October 9th, 2023 @ 7:00 PM

Once the sessions are completed everyone who registered will receive a link to review the presentation again, or to watch it if you were uinable to attend in real time. We will also link the presentations in the schedule above once they have concluded so you can always access the content from the links above as well.

We invite everyone to go to the Cook Center for Human Connection's website to access a wide variety of resources, free courses, and other supports. They have numerous partnerships that can also assist parents and students. Parent Guidance is one of those valuable partnerships that offers free courses, "Ask a Therapist" services, as well as parent coaching. You can access over 50 therapist-led courses at ParentGuidance.org where you can learn more about the mental health needs of your child and yourself. As you find yourself or your students struggling with the challenges of today, please don't hesitiate to reach out for assistance.
